Recession and The Guardian

Al Moodie - Everything Crash

Hey, I got a piece on The Guardian blog t'other day. It's all about how hip hop artists and dancehall singers are making songs about the recession even though they usually boast about how much cheddar they melt. The comments are pretty funny - I had to bitch slap someone. Braaaappppp!

Dying on the vine only in dreams

John Cale - Dying on the vine

I've been feeling songs which are a bit mental recently. I don't think it gets much better than these two. Ok, forget Jools and his stupid comments about drummers, John Cale is amazing in this. And Roy Orbison, flipping nora, how disturbing/good is 'In Dreams'? No wonder Lynch jumped on it.

Kinski vs Hauer

Hauer - Blade Runner

Hauer - The Hitcher

A few weeks ago my friend started a Monday film night at his house. He'd been given the Kinski/Herzog boxset for Christmas. We started with 'Aguirre: Wrath of God'. So far that is it. Because Klaus Kinski scarred us all the death. When I first thought of this post I thought it would be a pretty close call between the two of them. Rutger arguably has a better name and was in cooler films (Blade Runner) but no-one can match Klaus. He is next level.

Kinski @ Cannes

Kinski or Christ (it's your call, I'm calling him JC if I ever meet him though)

Wasting time on wasters

No Age - Eraser (live at Juan's basement for Pitchfork TV)

Wavves - Part 3 by Yours Truly from Yours Truly on Vimeo.
Wavves - To The Dregs (live for Yours Truly)

Hello. How are you? I haven't done anything on here for a while. Partly because I'm lazy and partly because I'm busy. A large part of it is down to the fact I've been getting well into these new Pavement style bands from the US. Ok, No Age aren't new but Wavves kind of are.

This video is good fun. I was soooooo relieved when I saw it because usually when you hear about a cool new band it's just a matter of time before you find out they're stupid or your friend met them and they tried to pull his girlfriend. But these guys are as cool as We are Scientist and they're actually funny.
